MIPIM 2020. The Future is Human
The Government and the NP11 are coming together to showcase The Northern Powerhouse as a great place to invest and to do business.
The Northern Powerhouse, in association with NP11, which comprises 11 Local Enterprise Partnerships (LEPs) from across the North of England, will be running a programme of events throughout the four-day MIPIM conference.
We invite you to discover why we are building a programme of engagement and to hear more about how the North of England is being revitalised, with new housing plans, modern methods of construction, enabling full delivery of the Transport for the North, connected towns cities and infrastructure. Connecting skills and training to the North’s business and growth needs and leading the green industrial revolution. This is a very exciting time to be involved with the Northern Powerhouse, with many lucrative development opportunities available across the North of England.
This seminar programme is a chance to bring the North together in one place to promote the economic renaissance of the North, a portfolio of opportunities and why it really is a great place to invest.

Meet with the Northern Powerhouse collaboration of private and public sector partners, working alongside the Department for International Trade who will be at MIPIM this year – and take part in three action packed days of business development opportunities. We will be showcasing the vision for an economically thriving Northern Powerhouse that drives economic prosperity, international competitiveness, and inclusive growth for the benefit of everyone across our great towns, cities and rural communities.
With major investments in infrastructure, commercial opportunities and innovative technologies continuing to emerge at scale and at pace, the North has the opportunity to be the solution to the UK’s future prosperity.
Our invitation to you, and people across the North is to make your voice heard and play a part in the creation of a prosperous and successful Northern Powerhouse.
The Northern Powerhouse represents a major economy in its own right, hosting five of the UK’s largest cities, a population of 15.3 million people, 1.1 million businesses and has an economy worth £329 billion.
Export performance from the Northern Powerhouse is also strong. International demand for high quality, innovative products and services from northern businesses is growing and, in the year to March 2019, the region exported £59.6bn worth of goods overseas.
The Northern Powerhouse aims to deliver Transformational Growth that will generate an additional 850,000 jobs and £97bn of Gross Value Added (GVA) to the North’s economy by 2050.
Renowned for its innovation with eight of the world’s top 200 research universities based in the North, the region plays a vital role in the UK’s ongoing success. In addition, 50 per cent of UK nuclear projects are based in the North and the area has the largest concentration of financial, business and professional services outside of London.
The Northern Powerhouse is home to an abundance of opportunities and projects that will be of interest to investors and developers. These represent a variety of sectors from energy, automotive, aerospace, tech, advanced manufacturing, life sciences, financial, business, professional services and digital.
