Metro Bank soon to arrive in Sheffield

Sheffield businesses and residents will soon have the added convenience and major benefits of having one of the UK’s most innovative high street banks on their doorstep.

The exciting development comes following early discussions between Metro Bank and Sheffield City Region’s trade and investment team at the world’s leading real estate conference, MIPIM.

After successful talks, the bank’s owners realised that Sheffield was the perfect city to become one of its strategic Yorkshire locations.  The new branch of this revolutionary new bank, which combines face-to-face banking with state-of-the-art technology, is set to open later this year in the city centre.

It is expected that the branch will create around 25 jobs and will offer consumer-friendly and convenient banking services to the local community, from early in the morning until late at night, seven-days-a-week.

Gareth Morgan, Business Development Director at Sheffield City Region, explains: “This is just one example of how a meeting at MIPIM has led to a positive outcome for our region.  We’re delighted to be welcoming Metro Bank to Sheffield and are excited about what this will mean for our city.”

With plans for the Heart of the City II development already underway and many UK and international businesses confirmed including HSBC, the project promises to bring the very best retail, residential and lifestyle opportunities to create a city centre unlike any other in the UK. Metro Bank will fit into the city perfectly and will contribute to the vibrant, modern retail experiences for consumers and businesses.
