An Italian motorbike and moped specialist established in Sheffield 2012 is to open its third showroom in response to growing demand.

The news comes as the company reported turnover of more than £2.8m in the year to 31 December 2015, up from £760,000 in 2014.

The company has an existing showroom in Sheffield and a Honda dealership in Chesterfield. Tthe latest acquisition adds to Via Moto’s North Derbyshire offering. The team is renovating the former Clay Cross-based Kawasaki store.

Founder Matthew Gilder said the financial boost and geographic expansion was also the catalyst behind the brand’s diversifying product range. The Via Moto Sheffield branch now exclusively stocks the innovative Piaggio Wi-Bikes in the region – a brand new electric bike.

“2015 was a very exciting year for Via Moto with the opening of our first Chesterfield branch, the continued growth and expansion of our Sheffield store and service centre and a significant boost to our turnover,” said Gilder.

“Our latest showroom acquisition is a reflection of our plans for continued growth in the year ahead, and we’re now really looking forward to completing the refurbishment and opening in just a few weeks,” he added.
