Vice Consul of the British Consulate in Chicago Dr. Nadeem Ali-Khan said:

“The UK in general – and Leeds and Sheffield in particular – is home to a thriving orthopaedic, medical manufacturing and engineering cluster.

“As British Government representatives in Chicago, we’re delighted to convene promising US-based med-tech companies alongside the 2014 Orthopaedic Manufacturing & Technology Exposition and Conference (OMTEC) in Rosemont.

“With participation from industry leaders and government representatives, we look forward to discussing opportunities in the region’s impressive healthcare ecosystem and NHS infrastructure.”

Ellen Cutler, Sheffield City Region Director of Inward Investment added:

“By joining forces with Leeds & Partners to deliver a targeted programme of activity in Chicago, we are able to promote the regional healthcare economy in a way that makes sense to potential US investors.

“We will also be exhibiting at OMTEC, an event which attracts orthopaedic device company professionals fitting exactly our healthcare sector profile.

“I am delighted to be working again with Leeds & Partners building on our successful history of collaboration.”

Sheffield City Region is home to a flourishing healthcare technology cluster resulting in one of the UK’s largest clusters of orthopaedic and medical device companies.  This hotbed of activity is underpinned by an academic community attracting over 7,000 undergraduates studying Medical Technology and design related courses at Sheffield Universities.
