For the third year running Sheffield City Region and Leeds and Partners will deliver a joint programme of events at the Orthopaedic Manufacturing & Technology Exposition and Conference (OMTEC) in Chicago from 11th-12th June.

Ellen Cutler, Sheffield City Region Director of Inward Investment said:

“By joining forces with Leeds & Partners to deliver a programme of activity in Chicago, we are able to promote the regional healthcare economy more holistically.

“It also helps us to reach a wider audience of potential investors and cuts the costs of delivery.

“We have a history of working successfully with Leeds & Partners, this year at MIPIM we hosted a popular joint Tour de France event.”

Part of the programme involves an evening reception hosted by the British Vice Consul in Chicago.  The Yorkshire and Humber Academic Health Science Network will lead a talk on the region’s NHS infrastructure and wider healthcare ecosystem, including research and development opportunities and investment incentives.

Sheffield City Region is home to a flourishing healthcare technology cluster resulting in one of the UK’s largest clusters of orthopaedic and medical device companies.  This hotbed of activity is underpinned by an academic community attracting over 7,000 undergraduates studying Medical Technology and design related courses at Sheffield Universities.
