Engineering companies from across the Sheffield City Region are working together as preparations continue to take a delegation to the UK’s premier engineering & manufacturing event.

The MACH 2014 show runs from the 7th-11th April 2014, at Birmingham NEC, and highlights the latest advanced manufacturing technologies and innovations to over 21,000 visitors and around 500 exhibitors.

The local delegation spans a range of industries, with Newburgh Precision, Beckett MIM, Custom Metal Products, Lidster Paragon Tool, Evenort, Straaltechniek, Plastic Fabricators, Numill, Jec Vac, Comocri, Vonhatski Amplification and RiDO’s own Soft Landing Zone Programme accompanying the Sheffield City Region Investment Team.

The Sheffield City Region Pavilion will be located at stand 5980 in Hall 5 of the MACH exhibition, and other companies from around the City Region also exhibiting elsewhere at the show include Fluid Maintenance Solutions, Tyzack Machine Knives and Struers.

Rotherham Investment & Development Office (RiDO) and the Sheffield City Region Local Enterprise Partnership (SCR LEP) will be hosting the joint pavilion, which has been part funded via the ‘South Yorkshire Sector Growth Enhancement Programme’ (SYSGEP).

SYSGEP is part-funded by the European Regional Development Fund through the Yorkshire & Humber ERDF Operational Programme (2007-2013). The project aims to support both inward investors and expanding indigenous businesses to accelerate private sector expansion and increase the competitiveness of the region’s business base.

Andrew Klinkenberg from RiDO said:

“The ability that our ERDF programme gives us to enable these companies to access supply chain opportunities at MACH is fantastic. Participation by many of these SME companies just wouldn’t have been possible without this support. Our partnership with colleagues in the SCR LEP team highlights the great joint working that the City Region benefits from and today’s best practice event is another example of this.”

Ellen Cutler from the SCR Investment Team added:

“The strength of Sheffield City Region lies in the quality of the companies based here and I am delighted to showcase that expertise at MACH. We are committed to attracting growing businesses to the City Region in this sector, and now we will be promoting our new Enterprise Zone sites offering world class incentives and bespoke investor support.”

The Sheffield City Region will also use the opportunity available at MACH to highlight the region’s own ‘Global Manufacturing Festival’ (GMF). Held at the Advanced Manufacturing Park (AMP) in Rotherham, GMF will this year be part of the International Festival for Business 2014 that is being hosted across the UK.

GMF aims to network SME’s with large global companies, giving them an insight into future opportunities and sell into global markets. Mike Wright, Executive Director of Jaguar Land Rover will be amongst the high-profile speakers at this year’s event.
